Maxine,
September seems to be a pivotal month for me. As I am writing this, we are waiting
for Hurricane Rita to hit the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as a tropical storm. In September 1970, I left Delmar,
honestly not looking back, for the Bay Area of California, where my oldest son
still resides with his family. In September
1988, I moved to Portland, Oregon with my youngest son when Ron and I
married. Life happens, and often
we have no control over events, so after 16 months of unemployment in
September, 2003 Ron accepted a position in Dallas. As the Northwest is one of the most wonderful places to live
(an hour to the ocean, an hour to the mountains, not much further is high
desert), you can imagine how extremely hard it was to leave.
However, thanks to this move, I am enjoying retirement (after 26
years in customer service), while Ron toils away at a company specializing in
theatrical and architectural lighting.
If all goes well, we'll be out of Texas in 5 years. Where we will go,
we're not certain, but it will be someplace that has cool summers with
smaller/or no mosquitoes and certainly NO cockroaches, I don't care if it does
snow!
Enjoy the Reunion. If
photos are taken of the 4 Corners, I hope someone posts them.
